Luftwaffe Named officer's flight blouse and breeches for a Hauptmann of Flight
This is one sharp looking set!
The officer's flight blouse is of excellent quality and features an extra thick bullion collar piping.
On the left breast there are loops for two badges and a clasp or ribbon bar.
On the right breast we have a gorgeous detailed bullion eagle and loops for a German Cross or Spanish Cross!
Save for a tiny moth nip in the chest area, the tunic is in excellent shape inside and out.
Inside the breast pocket is a tailor label from a Neisse tailor with the owners last name 'Hoffmann'. The town of Neisse is today known as Nysa and located in southwestern Poland. During WW2 it was part of the German Province of Upper Silesia.
I've done a bit of research on the tunic, but since Hoffmann is a very common name, it has proved hard to tie it to one man. There are at least three individuals named Hoffmann who received the DKiG and who held or could have have held this rank. Two of these are also Knight's Cross winners. But there is also the possibility that this Hoffmann received the Spanish Cross.
The breeches are made of exactly the same cloth as the tunic and are in excellent shape except for a couple of holes on one leg.
A 100% matching and very desirable set!
